To understand the "African Cultural Embassy" one must understand the over 50 year journey of Anthony "Amp" Elmore Sr.  One way to share this story is to watch a scene from the Anthony "Amp" Elmore 1988 film release titled "The Contemporary Gladiator."  The scene is called the "Dinner Scene."  Click here to view the movie scene.

The scene depicts a challenging time for Anthony "Amp" Elmore.    Elmore notes that Hamilton High School in Memphis was one of the most unhappy times in his life.  Elmore lead the 1st 18 year old voter registration in the State of Tennessee.  Anthony "Amp" Elmore proudly sported a large Afro-hair-do and conneted to his African Heritage.

Fast forward to June of 2026 the time of this posting from about 1970 about 56 years ago Anthony "Amp" Elmore was trying to find his way in America as an African/American youth whereas Anthony "Amp" Elmore converted his home into an Afro-Centric Cultural Center
to what it is today; "The African Cultural Embassy."

In 1968 whern Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was Killed in Memphis Anthony "Amp" Elmore joined  in 1971 with the strategist of Dr. King; "The Rev. James Bevel." Rev. Bevel influenced Elmore to quit college and join the movement.  It was in 1974 that Elmore would join an Eastern Religist sect called "NSA" or Nichiren Shoshu of America. This was a revolutionary Buddhist sect that encourages one to move back into society.

Anthony "Amp" Elmore moved from a "Black Revolutionary Youth" to become an "African Cultural Diplomat"  whereas Anthony "Amp" Elmore move into Global diplomacy.

Whereas, the traditional understanding of global diplomacy has long excluded the deep-seated grassroots narratives of the African Diaspora, whereas Anthony "Amp" Elmore  notes: we stand forthright as a sovereign voice of cultural preservation, historical correction, and international kinship. The African Cultural Embassy is not merely a conventional cultural institution; it is a living, breathing digital sanctuary and an active diplomatic initiative. We have constructed our digital embassy to be fully bilingual, serving as a linguistic and cultural bridge to the unknown, untold, and intentionally obscured African heritage that binds the continents.

The Core Mandate: Illuminating the Hidden Heritage

Whereas, mainstream historical frameworks have systematically truncated the scope of Black history, limiting it to rigid regional boundaries, our mandate is to shatter these artificial silos. We exist to unearth and amplify the profound narratives of Afro-descendants across the globe, with a dedicated focus on the forgotten historical threads that tie the United States, the African continent, and the vast expanse of Latin America together.

Through the strategic deployment of modern technology and multimedia archives, we are reclaiming the foundational truths of our ancestors. We break the silence surrounding:

* **The Spanish-Speaking Black Diaspora:** For centuries, the rich history, struggles, and triumphs of Spanish-speaking Black populations have been actively erased from standard educational curricula. We actively resurrect this heritage, acknowledging their indelible impact on the global freedom struggle.

* **The Untold History of the Americas:**

It is virtually unknown and untold that a massive portion of Black history in the Americas is written, documented, and archived in the Spanish language. From the early structures of colonial resistance to the liberation movements of the modern era, the Afro-Latino experience is foundational—not secondary—to the story of the western hemisphere.

* **A Pioneering Transnational Bridge:**
We proudly stand as the first African Americans to deliberately expand this specialized scope of cultural diplomacy. Our task is a dual mission: we do not simply look east across the Atlantic to Africa, but we look intentionally south to all of Latin America, creating a unified front of heritage, remembrance, and solidarity.-

The Pillars of Our Embassy

 1. Linguistic Accessibility via Modern Technology

"We communicate across borders to unite a fragmented history."

By intentionally developing a bilingual, dual-language digital platform—fully accessible to both English and Spanish speakers—we use modern media tools to dismantle the linguistic barriers that have kept the African Diaspora divided. Language is no longer a tool of division; it is our primary vehicle for mass education, community empowerment, and international communication.

 2. Radical Historical Inclusion (From Cuba to Colombia)

Our diplomatic outreach knows no borders. We honor, study, and bridge the gap with the revolutionary histories of:

Cuba: Celebrating a legacy of resilience, deep African spiritual retention, and unyielding resistance against systemic oppression.

Colombia: Highlighting the profound legacy of *palenques*—the first free slave towns of the Americas—and champions of modern Afro-Colombian equity like Vice President Francia Márquez and the historic figures like Benkos Bioho.

Mexico: Illuminating the deep Afro-Mexican roots hidden in the plains of Costa Chica, the legacy of Mexico's Black President Vincent Guerrero, and building contemporary relationships with leaders like President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Kenya & The Global African Connection:

Honoring structural pioneers of international education and solidarity, anchoring our continuous lineage directly to leaders like Tom Mboya and the historic airlifts that transformed global leadership.

3. The Local Root: Orange Mound as a Global Epicenter

Our international diplomacy is not detached from local soil; it is firmly rooted in **Orange Mound, Memphis, Tennessee**—the historic, premier neighborhood established by and for African Americans in 1879. We assert that the same spirit of self-determination that built Orange Mound is the exact energy required to bridge global heritage. From our residence and digital embassy in Memphis, we issue a global call to action:

"They erased our district, we expanded our destiny."

Our Declaration of Purpose

Therefore, let it be known to the world that the African Cultural Embassy is an active movement for truth. We are digital historians, content creators, athletic champions, and cultural diplomats utilizing our platform to rewrite the record of human history. We reject the erasure of our people. We embrace our Afro-Latino brothers and sisters. We stand firmly on the three pillars that guide our path forward:

Education • Diversity • Democracy

We invite all scholars, activists, truth-seekers, and descendants of the global African family to join us as we execute this Charter of Kinship. We will continue to speak, write, film, and publish until the full, unbroken history of Black brilliance throughout the entire world is known, celebrated, and forever preserved.
